Quirky Irish Icon - Patricia Pierce

When Patricia’s nephew moved to Dubai in 2014 she set herself the task of finding him something that would remind him of home. He really missed all of those things that you can only get in Ireland, like real Irish butter, batch loaf or a lovely homemade Dublin Coddle. After searching high and low for something that could easily be posted and that was a bit quirky and had a bit of character to no avail, she decided to make it herself!

Patricia made the first three quirky Irish icons as fridge magnets depicting the essence of Ireland. Each of the icons began with a rough sketch, then using polymer clay, she created each icon mould, baked and hand painted them to finish. Her nephew loved them and showed them to his friends and soon the people in the Irish village in Dubai where he lived were all in love with her work. That’s when Patricia realised she was on to something - those fridge magnets were a perfect way to capture the things that people love about Ireland.

And so, Quirky Irish Icons was born
